About us
"Guides from the South" Tourism Development NGO was founded on April 7,
2017 in the City of Kapan town, Syunik province. The organization has 8 members.
The main goal of the organization’s activities are to:
- Support the development of all types of tourism in Armenia.
- Promote tourist attractions in the region.
- Assist in preservation and improvement of historical and cultural monuments.
- Train guides, improve their professional skills, and involve them in the sphere of
tourism.
The organization is developing tourism routes in the Kapan and Meghri areas.
We assist the tourists visiting Syunik province by giving them free information and
helping them communicate with the local population.
We assist citizens who are involved in the sphere of tourism by providing them with
free expert advice, trainings, and services. We cooperate with ‘’ARK Armenia’’ NGO,
as well as with the ‘’Kapan Geological Museum’’ state NGO and the ‘’Zangezur Biosphere Complex’’.
We participated in an eco-tourism conference held by the American University of Armenia
(AUA), where we presented our NGO, the beautiful sights for tourists in the Kapan and
Meghri areas, and the most interesting travel itineraries. The NGO staff have also participated
in a training program conducted by AUA within the framework of the EU ‘’Constructive
Dialogue Initiative’’.
Since 2018 December we have been implementing a grant project called ‘’Eco-tourism as a
stimulus for socio-economic development in the communities adjacent to
protected areas’’, which is funded by ‘’Support program for protected areas in
Armenia’’ and German KFW bank.
